At Containers of Tampa Bay, your satisfaction is our priority. We stand behind every shipping container we sell and are committed to a fair, transparent, and hassle-free return process. Please read this policy carefully before making a purchase. By completing an order on our website, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Our Return Guarantee
We offer a 30-day return window from the date of delivery on eligible orders. If you are not satisfied with your container for any covered reason, you may request a return within 30 calendar days of receiving your order. Returns requested after 30 days of delivery will not be accepted, except where required by applicable Florida or federal law.
2. Eligibility for Returns
To be eligible for a return, the following conditions must be met:
- The return request is submitted within 30 calendar days of the confirmed delivery date.
- The container is in the same condition as delivered — unused, unmodified, and unaltered.
- The container has not been permanently installed, welded, painted, or structurally modified.
- You provide valid proof of purchase (order number or confirmation email).
- The return reason falls under a covered category (see Section 3 below).
Custom-built, modified, or specially fabricated containers are non-returnable once production has commenced, unless they arrive with material defects or damage.
3. Covered Return Reasons
We accept returns for the following reasons:
- ✅ Container arrived with structural damage not disclosed at time of sale.
- ✅ Container delivered is materially different from what was ordered (wrong size, type, or condition grade).
- ✅ Container has significant undisclosed defects affecting its structural integrity or primary use.
- ✅ Order was duplicated due to a website or processing error.
- ✅ Container was not delivered within the agreed timeframe with no reasonable explanation.
The following are not covered for return:
- ❌ General surface rust, dents, or patina on used containers — consistent with prior shipping use.
- ❌ Change of mind after delivery.
- ❌ Inability to obtain local zoning or permit approval after purchase.
- ❌ Damage caused by the customer after delivery.
- ❌ Containers that have been modified, painted, welded, or cut after delivery.
4. How to Initiate a Return
To start a return, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Email us at info@containersoftampabay.com within 30 days of delivery with the subject line: "Return Request – [Your Order Number]".
- Step 2: Include your full name, order number, delivery date, reason for return, and clear photographs of the container.
- Step 3: Our team will review your request and respond within 2 business days with a decision and next steps.
- Step 4: If approved, we will coordinate return freight pickup at no cost to you for valid claims.
- Step 5: Once the container is retrieved and inspected, your refund will be processed (see Section 6).
Do not move, alter, or attempt to return the container before receiving written authorization from our team. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted.
5. Return Shipping & Freight Costs
- Covered claims (damage, wrong item, defects): Return freight is fully covered by Containers of Tampa Bay at no charge to the customer.
- Non-covered returns (where applicable): The customer is responsible for all return freight and logistics costs. A restocking fee of up to 15% of the purchase price may apply.
Due to the size and weight of shipping containers, all return freight is arranged exclusively by our logistics team. Customers may not arrange independent freight for returns.
6. Refund Processing
Once your return has been approved and the container has been retrieved and inspected, your refund will be processed within 14 business days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout. You will receive an email confirmation once the refund has been initiated.
- Refund Timeline: Up to 14 business days from return approval and container retrieval.
- Refund Method: Original payment method (credit/debit card or bank wire).
- Partial Refunds: May be issued if the container is returned in a different condition than delivered.
- Sales Tax: Applicable sales tax collected on the original order will be refunded in full on approved returns.
- Shipping Fees: Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.
Please note that bank processing times may vary. If you do not see your refund after 14 business days, please contact your bank before reaching out to us.
7. Exchanges
We do not process direct exchanges. If you wish to swap your container for a different size, type, or condition grade, you must initiate a return under this policy and place a new order separately. Our team is happy to assist you select the right container — email us at info@containersoftampabay.com before placing your new order.
8. Damaged or Defective Containers
If your container arrives visibly damaged or defective, take the following steps immediately:
- Note the damage on the delivery receipt before signing.
- Photograph the damage from multiple angles.
- Contact us within 48 hours of delivery at info@containersoftampabay.com.
- Include your order number and all photographs in your email.
Signing a delivery receipt without noting damage is considered acceptance of the container in its current condition. Damage claims submitted after 48 hours may still be reviewed within the 30-day window but are subject to additional verification.
9. Google Merchant Center Compliance
This return and refund policy is published in full compliance with Google Merchant Center requirements, including:
- A clearly defined return window of 30 days from date of delivery.
- A clearly stated refund processing timeline of 14 business days.
- Transparent disclosure of restocking fees and non-returnable item categories.
- Clear instructions on how to initiate a return.
- Visible and accessible policy published on our website at all times.
- Refunds issued to the original payment method with no unreasonable conditions.
10. Florida Consumer Protection
This policy is designed in compliance with the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act (FDUTPA), Chapter 501, Florida Statutes. Florida consumers retain all rights afforded to them under applicable state law. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or waive any statutory consumer rights under Florida or federal law.
